What we treat

Osteopathic clinical diagnosis does not only target symptoms but locates and treats the cause of the symptoms. Osteopaths have a holistic approach and believe that your whole body will work well if your body is in good structural balance.

Osteopaths diagnose and treat musculoskeletal problems related to altered mechanics, function and posture. Pain can come from poor posture, injury, repetitive strain, general illness or as part of the normal ageing process.

Osteopathy involves a hands on approach by a highly qualified therapist. Palpation (touch) is used to aid with the diagnosis of the condition and to provide the majority of the treatment.

Osteopaths are trained to check for signs of serious conditions they cannot treat. In these circumstances, they should inform you of what they believe is the problem and refer you to see your GP or hospital for further investigations. Pain caused by conditions affecting the internal organs can mimic musculo-skeletal problems – ie pain felt in muscles and joints can be caused by problems elsewhere in the body. This is one important reason to have the cause of pain investigated professionally.

Most people think of us as ‘back specialists’ as Osteopaths are commonly known for their treatment of back conditions & postural problems but we treat with much more than that! We treat almost every part of your body. Look at the list below to see some common injuries and symptoms that we treat. If you are not sure if we can help, please get in touch and we will be more than happy to book you in for an appointment.
